Causes of Sexual/Erectile Dysfunction

Physical

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes – all types
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, treatments and surgeries for prostate cancer
  • Metabolic Syndrome – combination of insulin resistance, body fat around waist, high cholesterol and hypertension.
  • Atherosclerosis – ‘hardening of the arteries’
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Smoking
  • Substance abuse, most commonly alcohol abuse
  • Peyronie’s Disease – scar tissue inside penis
  • Sleep disorders
  • Surgeries or injuries to the pelvis or spine.

Psychological
